As a RightShip Zero Harm Innovation Partner, KATRADIS contributes to the program by providing advanced mooring technologies that directly support safer vessel operations. At the forefront of Katradis’s contribution to the program are two groundbreaking product lines: RSB (Reduced Snap Back) mooring ropes and NIKA-Anodes Cadmium-free.
RSB Ropes -Engineered to dramatically reduce the dangerous snap-back effect that occurs when a mooring line parts. By integrating a special RSB member with distinct elongation properties, these ropes effectively restrain recoil energy, significantly lowering the risk of injury to crew members during mooring operations.
NIKA-Anodes Cadmium-free – High-performance corrosion protection without the environmental toll of traditional zinc anodes. Developed in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, these anodes eliminate toxic cadmium while maintaining — and even improving — protective efficiency, supporting a safer and greener maritime ecosystem.
One of the key requirements promoted through RightShip Inspection Ship Questionnaire 3.2 is the implementation of a comprehensive Line Management Plan (LMP). The LMP is a structured system for managing the entire lifecycle of every mooring line onboard — from installation through inspection and maintenance to retirement.
A properly implemented Line Management Plan enables operators to:
– Maintain complete identification and traceability of every mooring line and tail.
– Record installation dates and accumulated mooring hours.
– Schedule routine inspections based on manufacturer recommendations.
– Store certificates and manufacturer documentation in one accessible system.
– Demonstrate compliance during RightShip RISQ and other industry inspections.
