Offshore mooring systems operate under continuous loading, harsh marine conditions and demanding environmental forces. Maintaining dimensional stability, fatigue resistance and long service life is essential for the safety and efficiency of offshore operations.

Katradis Siri® LCP Vectran™ High Performance Ropes are engineered specifically for these demanding applications. Combining premium Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) fibers from Kuraray with Katradis’ advanced rope manufacturing technology, they deliver exceptional fatigue resistance, negligible creep and long-term dimensional stability under continuous cyclic loading.

This combination makes Siri® Vectran™ ropes an ideal solution for offshore mooring, FPSOs, floating renewable energy projects and subsea installations where reliability is critical.

The Molecular Advantage of LCP Vectran™ Fibers

Vectran is a high modulus multifilament fiber spun from Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP). It’s highly oriented structure is locked in directly during the melt spinning process, thanks to the molecular structure and crystalline nature of the starting polymer.

Vectranfibers from Kuraray Ltd combine outstanding properties such as high strength even at very high ambient temperatures, low creep and superb abrasion resistance.

Creep Performance of Vectran

creep

One of the most important characteristics of offshore mooring ropes is creep performance. Permanent elongation can reduce positioning accuracy and increase operational risks during long-term deployments.

Vectran shows near-zero creep in a wide range of operating temperatures, which results in better dimensional stability under constant load.

HMPE material shows moderate creep effect in room temperatures, but this highly increases when more heat is applied.

Verified performance according to offshore testing standards

Vectran® ropes have successfully undergone testing based on the latest edition of ISO 18692-4 (Fibre ropes for offshore stationkeeping – Polyarylate), the international standard for fibre ropes used in offshore stationkeeping systems.
