“Every single process from raw material to customer is very important for the life of a chain.”

Anchors and studlink chains made with top quality materials for naval & marine uses as well as for buoy moorings and offshore platforms, promptly delivered and fully certified.

Stud link chain cables are one of the most important tools of the ship for its anchoring operations. Katradis stud link chain cables are produced using diligent production techniques, compliant with international standards & class societies’ rules and regulations, attention to every link, IACS class approved raw materials (steel bars), standardized tests, inspection in all stages of production, and heat treatment in big size ovens for total quality performance.

Katradis’ stud link chains are Grade U2 & U3 and are accompanied by IACS class test certificates. Our stud link chains are fit for any type of ship guaranteeing flawless quality, easy operation, and long service life. When selecting stud link chains, please remember that any chain is as strong as its weakest link.

Raw material Quality, heat treatment and weldings on the Production process of a chain, are the key for a high-quality product, since all failures are the outcome of one or more of the above-mentioned factors.

“Durability means safety and reduced operational costs.”

Figure 2: Heat Treatment

The Right process of Heat Treatment is the factor that makes a chain durable. Durability means safety and reduced operational costs.

Many factories, in order to lower their prices and be more competitive, skip this step or use bad-quality, small furnaces with unstable temperatures. The result is a production of very low-strength chains.

However, the wrong handling of the operator, breaks even the best chains in the world. This is why we always recommend continuous training in such operations.

Another important step before the shaping of the link, is the trimming of each weld.

With this process, smooth surface at the welding point is achieved.

The high quality of studlink chains, which reflects on the safety of your ship, is owed to the following reasons:

  • Highly skilled personnel and R&D department
  • High quality of raw material (steel bar) properly certified by IACS class
  • High quality and precision machinery and devices
  • Quality control on all stages of production & final IACS class certification
