Spectra®-Siri® S-12 DB Rope

Spectra®-Siri® S-12 DB are High Modulus / High Performance ropes with long term fatigue life properties and outstanding quality performance ideal for the critical operations of the shipping industry. They consist of a 12-strand load bearing core (HC Spectra® fibers) and a protective braided jacket. This rope construction is firm, round and torque free.

APPLICATIONS: Mooring (to be used with Synthetic tails) – Anchoring – Tow Lines (to be used with synthetic tails) – STS operations / OFFSHORE / YACHTING

There are three options for the jacket:

a. 100% Polyester jacket: A reliable protective jacket that offers very good abrasion resistance and gripping properties when used on winches, capstans and other types of hardware.

b. Mixed jacket (UHMWPE/PES): A special blend of UHMWPE and polyester fibers form a highly abrasion protective jacket, that combines the gripping efficiency of Polyester and the ultra-high abrasion resistance of UHMWPE fibers.

c. UHMWPE jacket: A High Modulus jacket that provides maximum abrasion resistance prolonging significantly the rope’s service life.

Spectra®-Siri® S-12 DB ropes are 12 strand High Modulus ropes, combining the excellent properties of Honeywell’s HC Spectra® fibers and an insuperable manufacturing process. The use of the special NikaThane-J coating application on the HC Spectra® fibers and the superior in-house heat-setting process provides a high quality robust rope construction with higher strength efficiency and excellent abrasion resistance. Spectra-Siri® S-12 DB ropes exhibit excellent resistance to UV sunlight and weathering degradation and thus an extended service life (more than 7 years).

Spectra®-Siri® S-12 DB ropes are an excellent wire-rope alternative and offer several benefits:

  1. Most cost-effective ropes to purchase due to lower labor requirements in operations and decreased mooring & towing operating times
  2. High strength-to-size ratio of the HC Spectra® fibers, allowing for lighter weight ropes that are easier to handle.
  3. No corrosion, superior chemical resistance, increased abrasion resistance and excellent flex fatigue
  4. 2-3 times longer service life (compared to wire ropes)
  5. Negligible maintenance costs

Spectra®-Siri® S-12 DB ropes are produced according to ISO 10325-2009 and they comply with OCIMF's latest regulations & recommendations for the safe mooring of the tanker-LNG-LPG vessels.
